Sessions

1. The Divine Exchange (Part 1)

The Essence of the Gospel, explored in 2 Corinthians 5:21, is encapsulated in “The Divine Exchange.” God placed our sin on Jesus and offers His sinless obedience to us through faith. The Divine Exchange includes Jesus taking our punishment, offering remission, and distinguishing Satan’s accusations from the Holy Spirit’s conviction. Jesus also took our sickness, providing healing and health, and took our sin, offering His righteousness freely. Moreover, Jesus took our spiritual death, granting us eternal life (zōē), the very life of God in our spirit. Repentance and turning to Christ bring forth this divine transformation, fulfilling the Gospel’s essence (John 10:10, John 3:16).

2. The Divine Exchange (Part 2)

In the Essence of the Gospel, Session 2 explores The Divine Exchange, emphasizing how God placed our deserved punishment on Jesus while offering His goodness to those who trust in Him. This session delves into Jesus taking our poverty on the cross, experiencing absolute lack for our abundance. The purpose of prosperity, according to the Bible, is to build a dwelling place for God. Additionally, Jesus bore shame and rejection on the cross, providing us with a share in His glory. Finally, He took the curse, offering blessings, including victory, abundance, and favor, aligning with the blessings of Abraham for obedient children.

3. The Practice of Prayer (Part 1)

In Session 3 of “Essence of the Gospel,” focusing on Colossians 2:15 and 2 Corinthians 2:14, the difference between victory and triumph is emphasized. Victory is swift and bloody, while triumph is a celebratory party long after the win. Paul urges believers to acknowledge Jesus’ victory 2000 years ago and celebrate. The historical Roman triumph is cited to explain Jesus’ public defeat of evil forces. The Church is portrayed in the triumphal procession with Jesus as the head. Praise, even in pain, is emphasized as the key to inheriting God’s blessings, as seen in Paul and Silas’ imprisonment and Terry Law’s personal experience (Psalm 34:1-4).

4. What Activates Angels

The essence of the Gospel explores the connection between angels and the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts. Examples include Philip’s guidance by an angel and subsequent Holy Spirit intervention. Acts emphasizes angels working for the Holy Spirit. The writer of Hebrews cautions against worshipping angels. Paul warns against preaching a different gospel, even if delivered by an angel. Hebrews compares Jesus to angels, highlighting his superiority. The primary ministry of angels is to assist heirs of salvation. Actions and words, like Zechariah’s unbelief, affect angelic ministry. The lesson outlines five principles for angelic assistance: Authority, Sacrifice, Prayer, Almsgiving, and Praise/Worship.

5. How to Make Your Faith Work

In this session on making faith work, Terry Law emphasizes the importance of understanding the source and measurement of faith. Faith is considered a gift from God, with varying levels demonstrated in biblical examples. The lesson outlines focus on the origin of faith through hearing the Word of God and the necessity of action to release it. Examples from Peter, the woman with the issue of blood, a crippled man, and the ten lepers illustrate the connection between faith, action, and manifestation. The story of Oral Roberts and a boy underscores the significance of acting on faith for healing.
