Who Should Take This Course

Ideal for individuals seeking a profound understanding of prayer’s multifaceted dimensions, this course welcomes believers eager to deepen their connection with Jesus, contribute to global evangelization, and cultivate a disciplined prayer life. Suitable for all levels, from beginners to seasoned practitioners, it addresses common challenges in prayer, making it invaluable for those striving to overcome obstacles and foster spiritual growth.

Sessions

1. Its Threefold Potential

The power of prayer is explored in three dimensions: Up, Down, and Out, symbolizing Jesus’ ascension, the Holy Spirit’s descent, and the Church’s outreach in the book of Acts. Before these events, the early Church was born, emphasizing the significance of prayer. Despite a command given to 500 disciples, only 120 engaged in prayer, revealing a common challenge in the Church today. The lesson outlines the critical role of prayer in world evangelization, Christian unity, and personal growth. Prayer is portrayed as essential for changing the world, fostering Church unity, and transforming individuals by fostering a deep connection with Jesus.

2. What Prayer Is

In exploring the power of prayer, four key definitions are highlighted: Andrew Murray emphasizes its essence as tapping into eternal powers; John Wesley notes that God acts through prayer. The first aspect is entreating spiritual power, illustrated by Elijah, Jehoshaphat, and Samuel. The second is transacting spiritual business, partnering with God to overcome obstacles. The third is receiving spiritual secrets, listening to and confiding in God. The final is developing spiritual love, viewing prayer as a personal love affair with God through Jesus Christ. Ultimately, prayer expresses dependence, binds spiritual forces, listens to God, and expresses love to Jesus.

3. The Practice of Prayer (Part 1)

In Session 3, “The Practice of Prayer,” the speaker emphasizes prayer’s transformative power, vital for the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Covering the priority, plan, and place of prayer, the session highlights its role in spiritual growth, strength, and consistency. Emphasizing a systematic, organized, and specific prayer approach, the speaker underscores its impact on spiritual development and connection with God.

4. The Practice of Prayer (Part 2)

This session emphasizes developing a daily prayer routine with power and effectiveness. The prayer should be complete, incorporating spiritual warfare and spending quality time with God. Twelve scriptural ways to pray are outlined, including praise, waiting, confession, scripture praying, and intercession. Each aspect contributes to a holistic prayer experience. The conclusion suggests dedicating five minutes to each aspect, totaling an hour of prayer daily. However, it emphasizes flexibility, cautioning against turning prayer into a rigid ritual and urging openness to the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

5. The Purpose of Prayer

This session delves into the purpose of prayer, particularly its role in the ultimate goal of gathering lost souls. The text highlights the global phenomenon of people turning to Christ, crediting prayer as the key factor. The lesson outlines a prayer for the end-time harvest, a promise linked to the global spread of the Gospel, a premise emphasizing the need to reach people where they live for effective evangelization, and a proclamation in Revelation 7:9-12 depicting a multitude from every nation making a unified declaration. Overall, the significant global harvest is attributed to the power of prayer.
