Sessions
1. The Journey of a Servant
This course explores the overlooked “Ministry of Helps” in the Church, urging active participation beyond attendance. Buddy Bell’s journey from salvation to discovering his role emphasizes the importance of getting involved. Despite initial confusion, he finds purpose in serving, starting with usher duties. Criticized for his choices, Bell discovers scriptural validation for the “helps” ministry in 1 Corinthians 12:27-28, shedding frustrations and finding fulfillment. The pastor’s repeated reference to 1 Chronicles 22:15 inspires him. Overall, the narrative highlights the transformative power of actively engaging in the church’s various ministries, especially the “Ministry of Helps.”
2. God Uses Both Stars and Candles
The Ministry of Helps, supported by 1 Corinthians 12:28, underscores the importance of assisting pastors in God’s plan. Using the analogy of stars (prominent figures) and candles (less-known individuals), it stresses service over status. The story of Jonathan and his armor-bearer illustrates the unity between pastors and church members. Emphasizing commitment and support, the narrative highlights their combined impact, acknowledged by God. In a brief yet impactful message, it reaffirms the value of the Ministry of Helps alongside other significant roles in the Church
3. Fear Not Leadership, Organization, and Structure (Part 1)
This session underscores the crucial role of leadership, organization, and structure in the local Church, countering the belief that these are unnecessary. Drawing from Moses’ example, unity among leaders, helpers, and the congregation is emphasized. The rod of God symbolizes the power of the Word in winning battles. Leaders are urged to examine their humility and unity, supporting the man or woman of God. The helps ministry is encouraged to prioritize unity and lifting up the Word and power of God over personal ambitions. The overall message is a call for unity and adherence to God’s principles for effective church functioning.
4. Fear Not Leadership, Organization, and Structure (Part 2)
In the Ministry of Helps session focused on “Fear Not Leadership, Organization, and Structure,” the discussion revolves around Moses’ leadership example. Emphasizing the importance of order in the church, 1 Corinthians 14:40 is referenced. The main narrative, drawn from Exodus 18:13, highlights Moses attempting to manage everything alone until his father-in-law, Jethro, advises delegation. The qualifications for selecting capable individuals for delegation include finding those who fear God, people of truth, and those who hate covetousness. The outcome, detailed in Exodus 18:24-26, emphasizes Moses choosing leaders, discussing the importance of leaders’ focus and the positive impact of organizational structure on Moses’ subsequent encounter with God on Mount Sinai.
5. Becoming a Servant of Fire
This session explores the biblical concept of “helps,” urging individuals to revive the spirit of servanthood using 2 Timothy 1:6 as a guide. It emphasizes the often-overlooked roles of “helps” and “government” in the Church and underscores God’s preference for servants over status. Drawing from 1 Kings 18:21, it encourages those in the ministry of helps to embrace their role boldly. Buddy Bell asserts that heaven responds to true servants’ cries, bringing the transformative fire of God to cities when servants actively fulfill their calling, stating that status alone won’t suffice.
